Charcuterie Boats and Scrubs:
How this delivery in Toronto was a full circle moment for me.
I didn't expect to feel so nostalgic coming back to the hospital I used to work at because this time was different. This time I wasn’t in scrubs. This time I was delivering charcuterie boats to the nurses I used to stand beside many years ago. And not just any charcuterie boats, but something I had built from the ground up and dreamt about while at this hospital. Something that started in my basement after late nights and grew into what we all call The Graze Anatomy.
The Transition From Nurse to Small Business Owner
When I left nursing, I didn’t have a grand plan. I just knew I wanted to create something that I could really be proud of one day.
At first, it was just sharing photos of food with friends online after long shifts. And it brought a lot of connection and joy to me seeing people like and comment and share what I was doing. But little by little, I started taking orders. And then they were bigger orders. And then there was a team with me, and a bigger kitchen. And along the way I noticed how much people appreciated the care and detail in every board or boat. And that’s how The Graze Anatomy started.
Bringing Charcuterie Boats Back to Where It All Began
Walking those familiar halls again, made me pause and deeply reflect on the journey to this point.
It reminded me how far both I and The Graze Anatomy has come, and how much of my nursing background still shapes what I do.
The boats were a small gesture—a thank-you to the team that works harder than most people realize.
And seeing my old friends and new nurses take a moment for themselves, even just a quick bite, from something I created by myself, was an overwhelming personal moment for me.
Thank you to the nurses for their courage and strength that too often goes unnoticed.
Thank you to North York General Hospital for allowing me to be apart of nursing week.
And thank you all for supporting this dream we call The Graze Anatomy.
